DHC/ART is Montreal’s newest contemporary art gallery. Opened this October, 2007, the place is stunning and is itself worthy of artistic merit.

Running until January 6, 2008, is an exhibition featuring Marc Quinn, a controversial conceptual artist and a member of the YBA’s (Young British Artists). Quinn’s work is shockingly poignant in respect to the human condition of being alive, dead, and whatever happens in between. He toys with concepts of innocence, heroism, popularity, beauty, time, and biology.

In the series entitled Chemical Life Support, Quinn has formed castings of people who suffer life threatening illness using wax infused with a cocktail of the medications these individuals take to stay well. Quinn is also clearly obsessed with Kate Moss, and has positioned her for our viewing in provocative poses we can otherwise only dream of. It seems too simple to say that this exhibit is worth the trip to Old Montreal.
